pick a color.

Boy is it TOUGH priming over red paint. We are currently priming our dining room and the first coat turned it a shade of pink. It was the same shade as my childhood dog was when he got sprayed by a SKUNK and we bathed him in tomato soup. White dog + can of tomato soup = PINK dog for weeks. Even with two coats of primer, I swear I still see traces of PINK showing through.

So my newest problem is deciding what color to paint. Our kitchen is a buttery gold/yellow and our living room is an orangey mixture. I do love how 'light' the room is primed white, so my brain tells me to stay neutral - but my GUT says that is boring and really wants a nice green shade to accent the trim.

I'm testing out blogger's new 'survey poll' feature - so you can share your opinion and VOTE to the left.

And the dog went from being King to Queen during that bath!

I'm still liking the Candelences (sp?) that slightly shimmers with light. Stay warm and neutral...

Then you can accent in whatever you like and the wall hangings will all look great!

Oh, I meant to share a 'Decorating Cent' secret on their show the other night (HGTV). It was to take all your accessories and paint them WHITE. Then they added them to a BROWN wall on newly built shelves. Look great/modern though but such a cool idea...

You have to what that show for the Dirty Bird Ideas, all about recycle/reuse and redecorate a room for under $500...

And through the magic of Internet:

This style wasn't for me; however I really like the reuse and placement...

Joan Steffend is fun to watch, so check it out if you haven't already.

Mom - I couldn't recall if we used tomato JUICE or SOUP on King. haha.

I do like the Ralph Lauren candelight paint, I'll check it out.

Yes, the buffet table idea was cool too. Save the shows on DVR; she had some really cool ideas... That whole Bohemian room was full of renovated freebies!

I really want to vote but I need color swatches in order to make a final decision. Maybe I can make mine in person. Have you painted the liv. rm. yet? If not, maybe the runner up from the poll can go in there!?

Funny. I'm planning on painting the kitchen in my new house some shade of "lemon yellow" because I like yellow and green together (lemon lime)! I was also thinking of painting my dining room a nice mellow shade of green to go with the yellow. Good luck!

All you painters, pick yourself up a Fan Deck, showing all the colors of that vendor. I got mine for free from Sherwin Williams; but even if they charge you it's worth it...

And test the color and let it set for at least 24 hrs before deciding .

My sister was a painter and bought her own sampler to make her own colors; she did it on all her jobs.

The paint store will adjust your color too; so you should be happy at some point with the choices.

One last thing, I told Nicky about the book I got from the library called Color Bible; it's spiral bound and has great 'themes' for painting your rooms... Check it out ;0)
